JUNGLE CROSSING - Nohoch -
Your exciting
adventure tour starts with a Jungle Crossing 4x4 all-terrain
vehicle to get to Rancho San Felipe, a small Maya family
community where the Nohoch Nah Chich cenote system is
located (the second longest underground river system
in the world!).
Here you will undertake an unforgettable
snorkeling adventure into
the fresh waters of the underground
rivers, swimming deep inside the caverns where
you can observe stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations
above and below this crystal-clear water. You will then
be transported to "Heavens Gate", another
entrance to this beautiful underground river system.
A traditional Maya lunch prepared
by the women of this community then awaits you at the
ranch. After lunch you will have the opportunity to
visit the ranch and its inhabitants, a small Maya family
that have lived in this remote jungle location for the
last 30 years.
The expedition then takes you to the
virtually untouched bay of Punta Soliman (close to Tulum),
where you will participate in a sea kayak expedition
out to the reef system and snorkel to observe the spectacular
corals, sponges and tropical fish of the Mexican
Caribbean.
Expedition
Schedule:
- 8:00 – 9:00 am. Pick up and departure for
Chikin-Ha.
- 9:00 am. We board our Mercedez Benz Unimogs and
head to "Rancho San Felipe". We begin a
1.4 mile Jungle Crossing. Visitors will enjoy an intense
4x4 overland adventure.
- 9:45 am. Arrival at Rancho San felipe.
- 9:45 - 10.45 am. Snorkel tour with specialized
aquatic lighting in the longest explored underwater
cave and tunnel system in the world: Nohoch Nah Chich.
- 11:00 - 12:00 pm. Visit Heavens Gate cave entrance
and relax in the hammocks.
- 12:00 - 13: 00 pm. Lunch at the Mayan ranch.
- 13:30 pm Board Unimogs and head out of the jungle
to Punta Soliman Bay.
- 14:20 pm. Arrival at Punta Soliman Bay.
- 14:50 - 16:00 pm. Kayak Adventure to the Reef and
Reef Snorkeling Tour (this activity is subject to
sea conditions and may be replaced with snorkel tour
in another location if necessary).
- 16:30 – 17:00 pm. End of the expedition. Departure
for Playa del Carmen or Cancun

This expedition is not suitable for people with severe
physical or motor handicap or serious heart problems,
nor for obese people or people who are not able to handle
physical activity. It is definitely not recommended
for pregnant women. Children under the age of 6 may
participate under the responsibility and direct supervision
of a responsible parent or family member. People under
the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted
to participate in this expedition.
